Artist Bio
Daniel Carter is a student, graduating Valdosta State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Art and a Minor in Mass Media in 2021. His focus is on the field of animation as he was inspired by late 90’s early 2000’s cartoons such as Courage the Cowardly Dog, Spider-Man: the animated series, and many more. Daniel has learned animation in his time at VSU while also teaching himself in other programs such as “Blender”, and because of his beginning knowledge, he has successfully made four animations with three having musical audio. The animations he has made involve short musical based clips and comedic undertones. Daniel wishes to expand into deep storytelling and character driven animations that are not only deep in thought, but also fun and inspiring to an audience. Carter bases his design on his love of color and draws from his everyday environments to add complexity and visual intrigue to his work. Upon completion of his degree, Daniel will be applying his skills in animation to increase his portfolio while also pursuing voice acting.

Artist Statement
I make artwork that is about how I perceive my own mind as a whole. I have worked with traditional and non-traditional media but find I am most interested in digital animation. Creating a story has always been one of my goals as an artist be it with colorful artworks that show what I perceive as inspiring, or with direct storytelling with animations. I was influenced by the comic books and graphic novels that I enjoy reading, the art of creating a story through a visual language is my intention as an artist. My animations depict feelings of isolation while seeing light at the end of the darkness. Through these dark times we live in today, things such as peace seem like a far distant memory with the uncertainty that tomorrow is even less of a guarantee. My works reflects escapism in order to reminisce over feelings of hope much like how in comics where despite how dire the situation was, there would always be a happy ending.
