As a child, I would often go outside for some fresh air and would sit under a magnificent lovely tree. I sat next to the tree and it made me feel calm and collected. Growing up, we had many trees in our backyard, but when I was ten the trees were torn down to make space for a new building. In my work I try to capture this sense of calmness for others to use as a safe space. I make art work about nature because I want to create those happy spaces for other people. I like to plant flowers, walk in the woods, and garden. Being in nature makes me feel happy and calm.
I like to make drawings and jewelry. I like the process of working with metal, and the way I can use metal to form the shapes I want to create. I enjoy using multiple layers of material to make something beautiful. In my drawing work I like that I can draw the interesting details, like the bark on trees.
The art I make celebrates the beauty of mother nature. When people see my work I want them to feel the way I feel in nature. I hope my work is calming and inspiring to other people.
