I take inspiration from my experiences as an art education major and from my personal life to create visually compelling pieces of work. Teaching art has challenged me to experiment with different media and ways of creating, so I am always trying new techniques. My work often features a bright color palette with organic contour lines to create intriguing and eye-catching compositions. While my subject matter varies, there is always a personal connection whether it be from my experiences growing up with my grandmother to aesthetics that represent my femininity. My femininity presents itself through the formal elements of my work as well as through my expressive abstractions, and my childhood influences are often featured in imagery such as the environments I grew up in and the emotions those places evoke. My In Situ work encompasses these subjects and creates an amalgamation of the ideas I have developed over the course of my time at VSU.
